Asymptotic theory for multidimensional statistics (R-3780)

A scientific research network in mathematical statistics forms the cornerstone for much of the data-driven research. Mathematical statistics provides support for data-based decisions in a variety of fields such as (bio)medical sciences, actuarial sciences and financial mathematics, biology including bioinformatics, engineering, etc. With the proposed network we aim at high-level, top notch theoretical research that will be instrumental in other fields. The current state of the art in statistics requires highly advanced techniques, they are needed to understand and to deal with the contemporary issues such as high or ultra-high dimensional data, functional or spatial data, and many sorts of `nonperfect' data ( data measured with error, incomplete data, censored or truncated data). Moving beyond the current stage of knowledge requires a combination of theoretical skills, therefore a group of international experts will join forces in this network.
