Augmented Reality 4 SMART Maintain and Operate (AR 4 SMART MO)
Although digital tools are used in various phases of a construction project, not all possibilities are fully exploited yet. In the maintenance and operation phase (operate & maintain), there is still an important need for accurate, up-to-date, complete, digitally consultable information in as-built files. Since the costs of this maintenance and operation phase are 3 times higher than the initial construction costs of a building and 60 times higher than the design costs, any improvement in these phases will lead to an increased economic return and a lower total cost of ownership (TCO). This project will investigate how augmented reality (AR) - in particular BIM models enriched with digital information - can be used as a communication tool in the maintenance and operation phase of a building and thus increase efficiency and economic efficiency. The primary target groups for this project are (small and medium-sized) enterprises: as operators: facility management companies, housing companies, brokers, contractors DBMO, energy service companies (ESCO's), governments, etc.; in a maintenance function: facility management companies, cleaning companies, companies that carry out inspections or maintenance; service providers that can facilitate and optimise the professional roles mentioned above.
