Breaking stereotypical perceptions of job seekers: Increasing attractiveness through person-organization fit.

A neglected aspect in the 'war for talent', that will forestall a successful recruitment process from the part of the organization, is stereotyping in the eyes of job seekers, leading to a deceived perception of misfit with the organization. The purpose of this study is to examine manifestations of stereotyping (i.e., judging organizations based on the sector values) and its relationship with person-organization (PO) fit and organizational attractiveness. Moreover, we study fruitful avenues to overcome such stereotyping, thereby integrating two theories, namely the justification-suppression model of prejudice (Crandall & Eshleman, 2003) and construal level theory (Trope & Liberman, 2010).
