Climate resilient nature management (EVINBO)

Climate adaptive management should make a landscape resilient to the expected but uncertain impacts of climate change. Central to this is the concept of 'resilience' (the ability of an ecosystem to absorb disturbance and change, while maintaining essential functions, structures, properties and feedbacks).
The central aim of the assignment is to make this concept operational, explicitly starting from an adaptive management cycle approach with both ecosystem-based and effect-based strategies.
The end product of this assignment consists of practical management guidelines for site managers. These management guidelines are in line with current legislation and scientifically based.
Essential here is:
- the focus on steering ecological processes (process thinking) resulting in management objectives;
- providing a framework for dealing with uncertainty;
- applicability at the scale level of the management plan and of the management unit (forest).
