Conceptualisation of integration policy
Flanders is characterized by a large and still growing diversity. The current superdiverse society requires an adapted policy, including an integration policy. In Flanders, an integration policy has been developed over the years with numerous instruments (social orientation, Dutch as a second language, etc.). The objective of this study is to make the integration policy evaluable by mapping out existing instruments (= policy monitoring), operationalizing the core objectives of the policy in order to be able to monitor evolutions (= monitoring), and to make the link between the policy instruments and the objectives of the policy (= policy evaluation). On this basis, the results and evolutions with regard to the central policy objectives in the integration policy can be monitored in the long term, and the extent to which the policy instruments contribute to these objectives can be checked systematically and uniformly.
