Developing and validating didactic teaching methods in chemistry education: focus on the (pedagogical) knowledge acquisition of students within the concept 'chemical reaction'.

This project has two aims:a. To conduct and report didactic research within the field of educating the concept ‘chemical reaction’.b.To develop and implement innovative, off- and online, experiments to be used by students in a secondary school (16-18 years old). Digital material, f.i. Pasco, will be used.Study days at the KULeuven are developed on the basis of the latest follow-up in the scientific literature and the social needs. During these study days, studies on f.i. the presence of misconceptions among students within the concept of ‘chemical reaction’ are carried out. Studies on the (pedagogical) content knowledge in students of the Educational Master in Chemistry can also be conducted.
