Project

The development, implementation and follow-up of the calibration test for academic STEM. (STEM)

This project focuses on strengthening the positioning test as an instrument in the study choice process in the transition to mandatory positioning tests, as described in the Agreement of the Flemish Government 2014-2019 and the policy memorandum of the Minister and decreed in the Collective Decree for Higher Education. Starting from these documents and the efforts of the universities to provide students with the best possible information and support in their choice of academic STEM education, two thematic action lines are proposed in this project: 'content reinforcement' and 'communication and promotion'. This project focuses on the "content reinforcement". The aforementioned lines of action are included in the context of mandatory participation for enrollment in the bachelor in engineering sciences and the bachelor in engineering sciences: architecture in the academic year 2018-2019, but also want to continue working on substantive strengthening of the existing range of positioing tests and laying the foundation for a framework in which the extension of the mandatory participation can take place at a later stage. Such a framework can only come about after further expansion of the work started in 2017 with regard to the communication of the mandatory participation, the follow-up of the validity and reliability of the (new) tests and the informing and supervising of programs that wish to join with existing positioning tests.
