Project

Direct additive manufacturing of Ceramics: process optimization and start-up of a spin-off company.

The research part of this project consists of improving and refining a novel Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology for ceramics. A new AM concept for ceramic part production has been developed and tested by printing single lines and 2D surfaces. In order to produce the first 3D ceramic prototype parts, the proof-of concept needs to be improved and refined. This project will focus on this final step towards market-ready ceramic products.Valorisation is the second part of this project and includes the first steps of starting up a spin-off company. This company will act as a service provider for 3D printed ceramic parts, thus following in the footsteps of its predecessor spin-offs Materialise (AM of polymers) and Layerwise (AM of metals). This project will provide the initial phase: drafting a financial plan, writing a business plan and an extensive market assessment.
