Project

Electro-optically activated waveguides for Augmented Reality by Nano-Imprint Lithography

The ambition of this Ph.D. project topic is to bring innovative solutions to increase the efficiency of optical waveguides, which will be applied to the Augmented Reality (AR) area. The candidate will perform research in the fields of optics, materials, and process technologies. The principal research subject will be the fabrication and the characterization of nanostructured electro-optical elements with NIL, targeting an increase in light transmission efficiency of optical waveguides applicable to AR glasses. All this work is executed at one of the leading research centers for nano-electronics at IMEC in Leuven (Belgium). The promotor is KU Leuven professor Paul Heremans.
