Hypervigilance in patients with medically unexplained symptoms: An experimental analysis

Hypervigilance for somatic sensations is often suggested as a crucial factor in medically unexplained pain, as seen in patiens with fibromyalgia. Taking into account the shortcomings of earlier research, this project investigates if (1) patients show more hypervigilance compared to pain-free individuals and (2) if hypervigilance is more present in individuals who interpret information as threatening.
