Indicators for the effectiveness of professional development initiatives

There is already a lot of literature on professional development of teachers and school and their effectiveness. From this, a generic set of indicators for the effectiveness of professionalism is to be distilled. We expect, based on the selected set of generic indicators also get direction on how the effectiveness of professional development can be effectively measured. This command will answer the following questions: 1) What are the key indicators to assess the effectiveness of professional development initiatives and evaluate? 2) Empirical testing of the indicators in the Flemish context: we can use these indicators to assess the effectiveness of professional development initiatives in the Flemish context? This is a demand for applicability and ease of handling of the generic set of indicators for various professional development initiatives. We do not expect that the effectiveness of professional development initiatives will be examined empirically in this study. The focus is on the development of a useful set of indicators. 3) What methodologies are needed to make the indicators to gather information and thus conclusions about the effectiveness of professional development initiatives? Which are herein possible scenarios? Why are these scenarios put forward? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the different scenarios?
