Project

Interactive Technologies in Language Teaching 2 (iTILT2).

ITILT 2 stands for 'Interactive Teaching in Languages with Technology' and investigates the effective use of interactive technologies for task-based language teaching (TBLT). The project builds on, and extends, the EU project iTILT (interactive Technologies in Language Teaching), focusing on the interactive whiteboard (IWB) for teaching foreign languages. iTILT 2 moves beyond the IWB to focus on developing effective teaching and learning of second languages with a wider range of new and emerging interactive technologies, such as tablet PCs, mobile phones, and videoconferencing software. The educational contexts vary from primary and secondary schools, to vocational colleges and universities.A central feature of the project will be the role of teachers from different countries and different age groups as co-researchers with the project team in developing new ideas on how to use new technologies in teaching and learning languages. This will ensure that the project is grounded in current classroom practice (provided by the teachers and schools), but also reflects expertise of effective language teaching and effective teaching with technology (provided by the research team). The subsequent lessons will be videoed and extracts from the lesson, along with supporting materials, will be added to the iTLT2-website. In addition, the project will develop a professional development e-resource, which will be valuable to both pre-service and in-service teachers of languages.https://www.uantwerpen.be/en/centres/linguapolis/research-projects/national-international-projects/international-projects/itilt2/
