The neurovascular connection as a missing link in tooth regeneration
In the current proposal, our aim is to test the hypothesis that tooth replacement depends on a properly functioning neurovascular link, using a model with natural in situ tooth replacement, the zebrafish. More specifically, we will address the question whether blood vessels and/or neurons are required for renewed tooth initiation, and for further proper development of the tooth.
