Project

Polymorphism in thin 2D materials and self-assembled molecular networks

The objective is to contribute to the understanding and control of polymorphism in 2D materials and monolayer thin organic films on 2D materials. By a combination of non-covalent and covalent molecular functionalization protocols, and using state of the art characterization tools, this project aims to (1) spatially modulate the phase behavior of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) to modulate their optical or electronic properties and (2) to control polymorphism in monolayer organic crystals at the liquid-solid interface, thereby affecting the reactivity and other properties.
