Project

Post-quantum cryptography for the Internet Of Things

This research proposal addresses two recent developments namely the imminent security threat posed by quantum computers and the widespread proliferation of IoT devices. Due to the limited capabilities of a typical IoT device, we will design post-quantum secure schemes based on lattice cryptography that are optimized for efficiency, power, energy, footprint and bandwidth. Since IoT devices are mainly deployed in the field, we also need to address more practical issues such as physical attacks, including side channel and fault-injection attacks, and secure boot and secure remote firmware update. Finally, to ease integration for application developers we will provide high-level technology-agnostic software APIs and a secure IoT IP core that provides the required security functionalities.
