Project

Project oriented to the development and evaluation of communication strategies that contribute to a more balanced representation of dementia and to a dementia friendly society.

In the light of the project, funded by the King Baudouin Foundation, "The improvement of the quality of living of persons who suffer from dementia and their environments" this research project is focused on the development and evaluation of communication strategies that can contribute to a more balanced representation of dementia and to a 'dementia friendly' society. First, an inventory will be made of the dominant frames that are used in all kinds of media (movies, novels, news coverage) to represent persons who suffer from dementia. Next, this inventory will be used as an input for several expert workshops in which the participants will develop alternative frames. Finally, these alternatives will be tested in an online survey.
