Goal of the ChiQon project: sustainable quality improvement of chicory throughout the production chain.

Chicory cultivation consists of 3 major phases: i)Carrot cultivation in the field ii)The carrot storage in the fridge iii)Forcing the roots

Each phase contributes to the final product quality. We are introducing new (measurement) techniques and models for quality improvement. This allows the farmer to make the right cultivation-technical decisions in an even more substantiated way.

Desired result: i)Further refine the top quality of Belgian chicory ii)Safeguard and strengthen international competitiveness iii)Finally increase the profitability of the Belgian chicory companies
