Project

Research on the field of tension between heritage and retail in historic cities in Europe. Valorisation for retail and heritage sector through case study research. (R-3266)

The goal of this research is to formulate policy guidelines on projects of adaptive reuse into retail functions and to develop a tool for the (a-priori) evaluation of such projects. Because of the interdisciplinary character of the problem statement, our results aim at valorisation for the retail sector as well as the conservation sector. The first part of this resarch is a literature study on adaptive reuse, urban regeneration and retail design. The second part contains a casestudy analysis in which retail-reuse projects that have been realised are studied.
