Sabbatical Ellen Claes: civic and intercultural competencies in education

First of all, I want to strengthen my network regarding a new research project, C2 looking into teachers' civic and intercultural competencies (CIC). In the sabbatical period, the project will be in the first valorization phase (i.e., writing a scientific report, doing analyses, writing A1 publications), and professional input from international colleagues will strengthen this phase. Considering potential networks for international project funding, this sabbatical will be fruitful (see below). Moreover, the sabbatical will serve the purpose of promoting the survey instrument that is developed in this project regarding CIC. This idea can strengthen international project work looking into CIC in teachers and add an international comparative dimension to the C2 project. Second of all, in 2022, the International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (IEA) fieldwork will be in the last phase. First datafiles will already be available for exploratory research purposes to countries participating in the study. While Flanders choose not to participate in the 2022 wave of the survey, it is necessary to work together with participating countries to continue this successful research line in my work. I will hence prepare manuscripts together with other research institutes
