Shifting away from pain: Neurocognitive approach to explain and predict the response to the modern neuroscience approach for treating patients with whiplash associated disorders.

Patients with chronic whiplash-associated disorders (CWAD) exhibit structural brain alterations, which are correlated to pain cognitions and symptoms of central sensitization. This study wants to 1) investigate the effect of a modern neuroscience approach, which combines education on pain neuroscience with cognition-targeted motor control training, on brain networks in WAD in comparison to a control physiotherapy treatment and 2) predict inter-individual differences in treatment response.
