Solar Flare (R-4113)

Renewable energy is a rapidly growing area, with both a significant ecological and economic impact. Especially in the field of solar energy (photovoltaic power generation) in the border region of Flanders-Netherlands there are a large number of public (universities and research institutes) and private parties (companies, investors) located who are already very well positioned with an international reputation. Numerous companies in the region are currently strategically orientating to this new growth market, and they find that the existing strengths of the region form a strong starting point, but that more cooperation is needed to maintain the speed of developments to realize a greater value creation through offering products and services in a more integrated form. Both for manufacturing production machines for solar cells and for implementing solar cells in integrated systems for generating and utilizing solar stream, a whole new combination of expertise is needed. A project approach is important so regional parties on specific identified market opportunities are sought together to develop and promote new types of products for this market and to achieve a sustainable partnerships in the chain in the region.
