Structural elaboration techniques in L2 vocabulary learning: estimating the effect of metalinguistic contemplation on memory representation

This research project aims to take the measure of what contemplation of the form-meaning fit of new words can do to foster new L2 word learning. Form-meaning motivation means that a retrospective explanation can be sought as to why a linguistic unit has come in a particular form or carries a particular meaning. These form-meaning associations has been shown to facilitate the retrieval of new words.
