Unraveling the role of the immune system in ovarian cancer

We recently discovered that - in contrast to what was assumed  - myeloïd derived suppressor cells (MDSC) play a crucial role in ovarian cancer immunosuppression. In this project, we propose to first find an effective way to target myeloïd derived MDSC. Based on this information -  but not in scope of this one year project -  we will develop a combined immunotherapeutic strategy  in ovarian cancer to combat immunosuppression on the onde hand and enhance positive immune effectys on the other hand.
