Green business models

Book - Report

Subtitle:How can companies get on with it?
The Department of Environment had a study carried out into whether Flemish companies were sufficiently greening their business model. And how the greening and innovation of business models and strategies can accelerate the transition to a green Flemish economy. The report of this research, carried out by the consultancy firm PWC, came about in co-creation with Flemish companies and sector organisations. The participating companies recognised the need to evolve, but they are often still very cautious about making the transition to a future-proof business model.

This study focuses on the entire Flemish business community: the primary sector, industry, the service sector and the financial sector were involved. Each sector and each type of company has a specific role to play in the greening of the economy: small, medium-sized and large companies, as well as listed companies, family companies and companies that are part of large international groups.
The focus in this study is less on start-ups because they have a different approach to strategy formation than existing companies that may need to rethink and adapt their strategy and business model in order to become greener.
In addition, the report also focuses on the economic transition that is required: how can we all make the transition to greener business models and realise a green economy in Flanders? What contributions do companies make to this story?
