Sans Serif Comic Strip : le style typographique de Barnaby

The graphic continuity between text and image in comics, where the letters are usually drawn by hand, are a well-known aspect of their fabric. American cartoonist Crockett Johnson’s Barnaby stands out for its marked use of a mechanic typeface. By studying the integration of Futura into a comic strip, this article addresses the question of typewritten text in comics both in stylistic and enunciative terms and in its functioning within an editorial economy and a specific cultural context.
