  • Research Expertise  (Vrije Universiteit Brussel):

Charlèss Dupont is PhD in Medical Sciences, a nurse with a BSc in communication and she holds a MSc degree in management and health policy. Currently she is working as a postdoc researcher at the End-of-Life Care Research Group of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Ghent University in Belgium.

As a nurse, she has over ten years of experience working in nursing homes and with people with dementia. During her master's, she developed, tested, and implemented quality indicators for palliative care in nursing homes. Her PhD research was focused on developing a web-based tool to support people with dementia and their families in thinking and discussing preferences for future care and treatment. She also developed a public healthcare game to support the general population in conversations about death and dying. For this work, she received in 2023 an annual science communication award from the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Sciences and Arts

Currently, she is working as a postdoc researcher. She is evaluating practices regarding care navigation in people living with dementia and testing the acceptability of a primary care-led support intervention for people with dementia living at home and their caregivers. Moreover, she is supporting the implementation and evaluation of an international navigation program for people with cancer in older age and their family caregivers.

Moreover, she is a board member of the INTERDEM Academy – a pan-European research network regarding psychosocial interventions in dementia, which provides me with a large network of experts in dementia to reach out to regarding methodological issues.
