Jeroen Van Laer

  • Research Expertise:Jeroen Van Laer was a part-time professor and a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Antwerp until September 2018. Since February 2006 he is a member of the M²P research group. From 2018 onwards he is voluntary collaborator at the University of Antwerp. His research interest concern social movements, collective action mobilization and social media. For three years he explored the impact of new communication technologies on protest participation and social movement organizations (INTERMOB project). On 17 June 2011 he defended is PhD on protest participation, participant's motivation and mobilization dynamics (Why People Protest). Between 2011 and 2018 he gave a seminar on new media and politics in the Master Political Communication.
