Pieter Mannaerts

  • Research Expertise:Pieter Mannaerts studied musicology and philosophy in Leuven and Berlin. He obtained the PhD in musicology from the KU Leuven in 2008 with a dissertation on the plainchant manuscripts in Tongeren (10th-15th centuries). His research specialisation is in plainchant and saints’ offices (historiae) from the Low Countries. Pieter Mannaerts published about plainchant, polyphony, music in beguinages and musical heritage in Flanders. A secondary research interest is the music of the interwar period (Modernism, jazz, film music). At the Alamire Foundation (KU Leuven), Pieter is responsible for research communication and coordination.
