Yannis Skalli-Housseini

  • Research Expertise:

    Yannis (1996) obtained his Bachelor and Master degrees in history at the VUB and a MSc in International History from the London School of Economics (LSE). His main interests are in the history of state formation and the role of the state in the (early) modern economy. For his PhD, he is currently researching fiscal policy and changing notions of inequality on the eve of the industrial revolution in Belgium. Other projects involve the history of European Integration after the second World War.  

    Yannis joined the Center for Historical Research into Urban Transformation Processes (HOST) in 2020 to work on a PhD project supervised by prof. dr. Wouter Ryckbosch titled 'In the name of distributive justice: the rise of the fiscal state in the Austrian Netherlands (1749-1794)'.
