The Cultural Heritage Decree of the Flemish Community includes several instruments, among which is the Quality Label for Collection Managing Institutions. GUM & Plantentuin received this recognition two years after opening, in July 2022. An ERC fellow acquires personnel funding to employ a lecturer to take over part of the ERC fellow's teaching rresponsibilities. The resulting reduction in teaching tasks allows ERC fellows to devote their time entirely to the ERC-funded research project.
