Carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus losses from land and increasing concentrations in receiving waters or in the form of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere are environmental issues of major concern. Agriculture contributes significantly to these emissions. An integrated approach is needed to overcome this, ranging from agricultural management to consumption patterns.
Next generation building energy assessment methods towards a carbon neutral building stock KU Leuven
Building Physics and Sustainable Design, Universiteit Gent
The development of future-proof assessment methods for the energy performance of buildings supporting the transition to low-carbon housing, taking into account the technical social-economic impact at the level of the individual building, the local network and the building stock.
SBO Glycodelete: Evaluation of a novel glyco-engineering technology as a platform for the design and production of next-generation biologicals Vrije Universiteit Brussel
Translational Imaging Research Alliance, Supporting clinical sciences, Medical Imaging, Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy
The vast majority of biopharmaceutical proteins contain protein-linked sugars (glycans), which GlycoDelete technology remodels into small, homogenous 'handles' on the protein that impart new functionality either by themselves or upon coupling to other molecules. This GlycoDelete SBO consortium aims at exploiting this disruptive glyco-engineering technology for productiqn and testing of a range of improved biopharmaceuticals, as the basis for a ...
A galaxy based multiomic informatics hub for cancer research Flanders Institute for Biotechnology
Applying Machine Learning to high-throughput data, development of novel, advanced data processing and interpretation algorithms that are driven by artificial intelligence.
IOF Valorisation Life Sciences. University of Antwerp
Multiple AUHA research groups are working together with private partners in the domain of life sciences. Some of them are integrated in IOF-consortia and supported by a dedicated IOF fellow. The professors within the faculties Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences and Medicine and Health Sciences, which are not embedded in the IOF consortia but have a high need for dedicated valorization support, will be supported by this ...
Belgian Research Group on Financing for Development (BeFinD). University of Antwerp
Belgian policy research group on Financing for Development (BeFinD) is a consortium of three research centers at Belgian universities with the objective of covering the policy and research questions that are the most relevant to Financing for Development in the framework of the Academic Research Group for Policy Support (ACROPOLIS). ACROPOLIS aims to support the decision-making of the Belgian Directorate General for Development Cooperation ...
720° perception for safe and autonomous systems KU Leuven
Waves: Core Research and Engineering (WaveCore), Research Unit KU Leuven Centre for IT & IP Law (CiTiP), Electronic Circuits and Systems (ECS), Processing Speech and Images (PSI), Universiteit Hasselt
OmniDrone researches unmanned areal vehicles and the important electronic challenges to overcome regarding the drone's reliability and use. The innovation will therefore focus on the increase of its intelligence and awareness of its environment, using 720-degree 3D omnidirectional camera systems. The main technological objectives of OmniDrone are therefore enabling real-time, lightweight on board, 720 degree cognitive vision; exploiting it ...
Novel electrochemical strategies for rapid, on-site multiscreening of illicit drugs (NARCOREADER). University of Antwerp
This project proposes to develop novel, inexpensive and portable multisensing devices adapted for the rapid on-site screening of a number of illicit drugs, in saliva, using recent advances in biomimetic materials coupled with electrochemistry.
