Perinatal interventions to modulate lung development KU Leuven
SUMMARY
The studies included in this thesis provide new information on perinatal interventions to stimulate lung growth and development. Two lung diseases, bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), which was the focus of the first part of this thesis, and congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), in the second part, were chosen as these lung development disorders are among the interests of our research team.

Job Crafting: An Overarching Approach KU Leuven
Summary of PhD - Job Crafting: An Overarching Approach
Job crafting emerged in the early 2000s as a bottom-up perspective on job redesign in which employees take an active role in customizing their job. It describes the self-initiated changes employees make to their job in order to optimize their functioning. In this PhD project, the aims were twofold. First, we aimed to clarify the concept of job crafting. We started from the two main ...
Datacenter Monitoring for Improving Insight and Efficiency Ghent University
We will develop and evaluate the market potential of a monitoring mechanism for the datacenter that has the potential to be a holistic monitoring solution that will help optimize day-to-day operations, identify business opportunities, reduce operational expenses, and reduce carbon footprint. The key idea is to monitor the types and the latencies of the requests coming in into the datacenter, and correlate the request stream with the hardware ...
Study of Saline Water Intrusion into the Ma River, Vietnam under Historical and Future Climatic Conditions KU Leuven
Water resources managers have been facing challenges posed by future climatic changes, especially in coastal regions of the world. The Ma catchment in Vietnam falls into this category given that agriculture is the key economic activity and it depends on water in the coastal rivers. Increased temperatures, changes in regional precipitation regimes, and potential increased sea level would have a great impact on salt intrusions and thus a ...

Immune mechanisms in canine food allergy Ghent University
Food allergies are quite commen in dogs and are due to hypersensitivity reactions. The exact immunopathogenesis is not known and although many authors suggest that this is mainly IgE mediated, onset of clinical signs, diagnostic tests and treatment suggest that often a delayed tape of hypersensitivity is involved. The aim of this proposal is to characterise lymphocytes and cytokines involved in the immunopathogenesis and use this to improve ...
