Volumetric 3D-printing: a marriage between fast and scalable to create complex multi-material constructs Ghent University
The current application, targeting to acquire a volumetric 3D-printing technique, will position Flanders at the forefront of high resolution 3D-printing of scalable construct volumes. In volumetric 3D-printing, also referred to as computed axial lithography (CAL), a complete threedimensional object is built-up simultaneously, according to the spatially controlled photo-crosslinking of a liquid resin, combined with the principles of reverse ...
Volumetric imaging of the prostate with transperineal ultrasound KU Leuven
As part of the Amphora project, the aim of my PhD is to conduct volumetric imaging of the prostate using transperineal ultrasound. During my PhD I'll use a newly developed, fully wired probe to construct 3D and 4D images of the prostate. Later on, contrast agents will be used for intra- and interfractional dosimetry.

A 3D ultrasound platform for extracting clinically-relevant outcome measures in children with muscle disorders KU Leuven
Ultrasonography offers the opportunity to directly visualize in-vivo anatomical features. This can be exploited in numerous clinical applications. Ultrasonography is especially useful to provide information on the diagnosis and continuous evaluation of spastic cerebral palsy, since it allows an easy and fast data collection also during dynamic activity. However, most ultrasound (US) investigations are confined by the measurement range of the ...
Application of novel 3D polymer scaffolds for skeletal muscle tissue engineering KU Leuven
About 40% of the human body mass consists of skeletal muscle (Liu et al. 2018). Upon injury, the skeletal muscle tissue can regenerate physiologically till some extend. However, when there is a volumetric muscle loss (VML), the remaining muscle tissue is unable to fully regenerate itself. This VML causes scar tissue and substantial negative impact on patients’ morbidity and life quality (Liu et al. 2018, Grasman et al. 2015). The current ...
Fabrication and characterization of 3D thin-film batteries. KU Leuven
The technological fields of mobile devices, remote wireless sensors, implantable medical devices, smart cards and energy harvesters are rapidly evolving. A bottleneck in the development of such emerging systems is the energy storage component required for extended autonomous operation. Miniaturization of conventional batteries is limited by the use of particle materials and a liquid electrolyte. Commercially available planar (2D) thin-film ...
