Interconnecting drivers to flexible displays Ghent University
Several options to interconnect driver chips to a flexible display are discussed and investigated. In the first option, bare test dies are flip-chip (FC) assembled onto polyethylene terephthalate ( PET) display substrates. The second option involves test flexible polyimide ( PI) substrates, imitating tape-carrier-packaged drivers (TCP), bonded onto the same PET substrates, whereas the third option uses actual TCPs on stainless-steel display ...
A liquid crystal lens array-based projection system for near eye displays Ghent University
A projection optical system for hypothetic near eye displays that can be built into a contact lens or glasses is considered. The system parameters are evaluated. Aspects of practical usage of the displays and possible embodiments of the optical system are discussed.
Projection displays in avionics Ghent University
Avionics represents a specialized area of display applications. A possible future development in this field is a single display cockpit environment with touch input capabilities. Such a seamless, tiled cockpit display based on several short throw wide angle projectors is being developed in the European Project ODICIS. The current results are discussed in this contribution.
Electrochromic photodetectors : toward smarter glasses and nano reflective displays via an electrolytic mechanism Ghent University
Electrochromic devices, serving as smart glasses, have not yet been intelligent enough to regulate lighting conditions independent of external photosensing devices. On the other hand, their bulky sandwich structures have been suffering setbacks utilized for reflective displays in an effort to compete with mature emissive displays. The key to resolve both problems lies in incorporating the photosensing function into electrochromic devices while ...
Denaturalizing life-size displays of architecture : 1:1 period rooms by Andreas Angelidakis Ghent University
In 2015 Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam programmed the exhibition 1:1 Period Rooms by Andreas Angelidakis, an environment featuring six evocations of historical period rooms, gradually evicted from the Stedelijk Museum as it adopted the white cube convention. This article interprets the exhibition, its six period room-white cube permutations, and Andreas Angelidakis’s multiple authorial identity as an architect–artist–curator by positioning ...
