The role of attentional flexibility during emotion processing in resilience and emotional disorders Ghent University
The ability to flexible deploy attention during emotion processing is thought to play a crucial role in resilience to stress and healthy emotion regulation. Relatedly, according to cognitive models of anxiety and depression, impairments at this level may play an important role in mood disorders, where there often is exacerbated attention for (negative) emotional information. Understanding emotional attention from an emotion regulation goal perspective. Ghent University
We examine the idea that emotion regulation goals cause and modulate attentional biases to emotional information. Based on this idea, we predict that what stimuli will be attended (e.g., positive or negative) and how attention might be deployed (i.e., towards or away) will depend on the emotion regulation goal at stake.
Populism as a Call to Take Political Emotions Seriously: An Interdisciplinary and Theological-Ethical Analysis KU Leuven
This project takes the rise of populism in European societies as the point of departure for a fundamental investigation on the actual and potential role of emotions in the public sphere. Generating or restricting change for sustainability transitions – A didactic study of the effects of emotions in sustainability-related learning processes. (SUSTEMO) Ghent University
This project aims to gain insight into the role of emotions in learning processes in the context of sustainability transitions (STs). While it is acknowledged that emotions play an important role in STs as well as in education and learning about sustainability issues, there is a lack of detailed, empirically grounded knowledge about how emotions become manifest in ST-related learning, how they are handled by educators, and how this influences ...
How and when does job-related red tape affect teachers’ well-being and performance: The underlying role of emotions Ghent University

Unfortunately, many of these rules, regulations, and procedures turn out to be burdensome, while also lacking functionality, and can thus be classified as red tape. Past literature revealed that employees’ well-being and performance are both negatively affected by the presence of red tape. AI-algorithm for real-time recognition of emotions using monitoring with wearable KU Leuven
The ultimate goal of this project is to further develop and validate automated recognition of emotions in real-time, based on the metabolic energy use and recovery for mental tasks measured with a simple bracelet. The information obtained in this way will be used to develop an ecological momentary intervention (EMI ) system in the Mindstretch app, in order to reduce the problems of mental illness by preventive advice.
