Theoretical and empirical underpinning of the concept of guidance in the process of Computer-Supported Inquiry-based Learning in secondary STEM-education Ghent University
This project focuses on the theoretical and empirical underpinning of the concept of guidance in the process of Computer-Supported Inquiry-based Learning (CoSIL) in secondary STEM-education. Specifically, the focus is on the frequency, duration and modality in which multiple types of guidance can work synergistically within a CoSIL-environment in order to support domain-specific knowledge, scientific inquiry skills and motivation for STEM.
Example schools with cognitively strong students with scientific guidance KU Leuven
This project supports and coaches the example schools with the challenge and guidance in the development of cognitively strong students in our education.

The role and impact of the employment consultant in the (new) guidance and mediation model: an analysis of the implementation, the determinants at meso and micro level and the outcomes with jobseekers. KU Leuven
Improving the guidance and support of transfer students in engineering: A validated diagnostic test and effective interventions KU Leuven
In order to stimulate flexible lifelong learning, the educational system of Flanders provides alternative ways to enter a Master’s programme, next to the traditional academic Bachelor’s programme. Students who obtained a professional Bachelor’s degree can enrol in an academic Master’s programme provided that they successfully complete a transfer programme. In general, these transfer students enter university for the first time, just like ...
Evaluation of a home-based family therapy within the home guidance service of child welfare Ghent University
The purpose of this research project is to optimize the functioning of the home-guidance services by (1) completing the procedure that allows decent screening and referring of adolescents, and (2) systematically learning to work with a scientifically proven methodology (the Attachment Based Family Therapy (Prof. Dr. G. Diamond)) within a specific time span.
Echocardiography-based imaging techniques for guidance of minimally-invasive intracardiac procedures in horses. Ghent University
In human medicine, diagnosis and treatment of cardiac diseases is often performed through minimally-invasive intracardiac procedures. In horses, however, these catheterisation procedures are barely developed because imaging modalities from human patients (fluoroscopy, CT-scan) cannot be applied in horses. This research project develops new, standardized, echography-guided catheterisation techniques for diagnosis and treatment of cardiac ...
Synergistic scaffolding in technology-enhanced STEM learning. How can technology help to balance between autonomy and guidance during scientific inquiry? Ghent University
This project focuses on how Computer-Supported Collaborative Inquiry should be brought into the educational practice of Science, Technology, Mathematics and Engineering (STEM) and how support should be designed to serve a diversity of students regarding the obtainment of deep knowledge construction, problem solving skills and motivation in science. Literature stresses that supporting multiple students in a technology-enhanced classroom ...
