Sustainable use of acaricides in beef cattle: multi-Âdisciplinary research into the effectiveness of communication strategies to stimulate the adoption of novel diagnostic tools. Ghent University
Injudicious use of acaricides to treat mange in cattle has led to emerging resistance. An assay to detect acaricide resistance will be developed using a bottom-Âup approach, based on the farmers’and veterinarians’opinion of the ‘deal’diagnostic tool. These insights will be used to develop targeted communication strategies to promote the uptake of diagnostics and sustainable use of acaricides.
Developing multidisciplinary strengths-based strategies for mentally ill offenders Ghent University
With research tracks in criminology, law, medicine and ortopedagogics, the project wants to balance the dominant risk approach taken towards mentally ill offenders by focusing on the strengths, capabilities and rights of these persons. The final aim is to develop strategies to underpin a human, strengths-based, multidisciplinary and effective support approach towards mentally ill offenders.

The record of mega-earthquakes encrypted in lacustrine sediments - Development of a multidisciplinary method for the analysis of the seismic cycle of mega-earthquakes in South-Central Chile and Eastern Turkey Ghent University
Development of a multidisciplinaray method for the analysis of the seismic cycle of mega-earthquakes and of the resulting catastrophic impacts on the landscape in South-Central Chile and Eastern Turkey, based on the study of lacustrine sedimentary records, by means of high resolution reflection seismic profiles and sediment cores.
