The role of variations in the maternal microbiome during pregnancy in pregnancy outcomes in Eastern Ethiopia: A longitudinal study Ghent University
Ethiopia has a high burden of stillbirths and neonatal deaths. Characterization and understanding of biological factors during pregnancy or childbirth and their effect on pregnancy outcomes is therefore quite essential. We are planning to analyze the microbiome profile and its variation during pregnancy. This might improve interventions to avert the burden of adverse pregnancy outcomes and child mortality in Ethiopia.

Non-invasive prenatal screening for the presymptomatic detection of pregnancy complications Ghent University
The main objective of the ExPECT StarTT project is to develop an inexpensive non-invasive epigenetic test for an early risk stratification and presymptomatic prediction of pregnancy-related complications which will allow for more personalized follow-up and even preventive treatment of pregnant woman at risk.
