1-2-3-MOVE! Co-created initiatives focused on MOTOR COMPETENCE to kickstart 1- to 3-year-old Flemish toddlers' developmental trajectories Ghent University
Modern era children struggle to obtain age-appropriate levels of motor
competence (MC). MC is the capacity to intentionally perform

Parent-child talk about the past: The antecedent role of mindful parenting and children’s externalizing problems in parent-child reminiscing and the effect on children’s emotion regulation Ghent University
This project aims to examine the consequences of an elaborative parental reminiscing style for 3-6 year old toddlers’ emotion regulation. Additionally, mindful parenting (i.e., parents’ ability to attend to and to be non-judgmental when interacting with their child) and children’s externalizing problems will be examined as possible antecedents of this parental reminiscing style.

The “how” and “what” of parental motivational messages: An experimental investigation of the interplay between motivational prosody and content in the prediction of children’s motivational, physiological and behavioral reaction patterns. Ghent University

According to Self-Determination Theory, parents can be autonomy-supportive and inviting, thus encouraging children’s sense of choice and ownership. They can also be controlling and domineering, thus pressuring the child to think, act, or feel in parent-prescribed ways. Abundant research focused on what parents do and ...
