Virtually better? Virtual reality exposure for socially anxious adolescents. KU Leuven
Social anxiety disorder typically develops during adolescence. It is a debilitating condition that is associated with significant impairments in day-to-day life. To prevent moderate and subclinical social anxiety to further develop into a full-blown anxiety disorder, effective earlystage interventions that are easily accessible and appealing for adolescents are essential. Exposure by means of virtual reality (VR) technology has great ...

Improving the vitality and productivity of forests on poor sandy soils by introducing rich-litter species. KU Leuven
The provision of forest ecosystem services heavily depends on the ecosystem function of nutrient cycling, in which the belowground ecosystem compartment plays a fundamental role. An essential pathway in such nutrient cycling is the return of nutrients to the soil via leaf litterfall. Although much soil ecological research has been executed throughout the years, our understanding of the mechanisms underlying belowground functioning remains ...

Architecture and design of multi-granular optical networks Ghent University
This research project studies the fundamental challenges to realise all- optical networks that support multi-granular bandwidth reservations. Moreover, these networds are designed to be virtualizable in order to introduce programmability to allow on- demand deployment of management and control algorithms.
Methodologies for performance analysis of programs within a virtualization environment Ghent University
The importance of virtualisation in today's data centers is continously increasing, due to the advent of multi-core architectures. Having an accurate model for making performance predictions is vital for allowing a solid consolidation policy. The goal iof this research is to devise a rigorous methodology that allows the estimation of performance in a virtualised environment, taking the various execution layers into account.
Neurological turn Ghent University
