Methodologies for performance analysis of programs within a virtualization environment Ghent University
The importance of virtualisation in today's data centers is continously increasing, due to the advent of multi-core architectures. Having an accurate model for making performance predictions is vital for allowing a solid consolidation policy. The goal iof this research is to devise a rigorous methodology that allows the estimation of performance in a virtualised environment, taking the various execution layers into account.

EURO-MILS: Secure European Virtualisation for Trustworthy Applications in Critical Domains Ghent University
Critical systems go online, mixing domains with mixed criticalities. The state of the art does not allow doing so in a trustworthy way. Therefore, the EURO-MILS project will for the first time in Europe perform a "Common Criteria" evaluation to the highest levels of assurance of a MILS system (Multiple Independent Levels of Security).
Advanced dynamic computer-generated holography for high-end holographic visualization Vrije Universiteit Brussel
complexity of 3D objects and environments will be limited to traditional displays. That is why multiple
3D display technologies have been devised targeting to solve this limitation. Examples include

Risk assessment kit: from data acquisition to risk visualization Ghent University
The overal objective is to create a toolbox and methodology to produce useful and accurate risk maps
In the doctoral research of Hanne Glas, a flexible methodology for flood risk assessment in developing and data-poor regions was developed. Furthermore, the first steps were taken towards the creation of a risk mapping toolbox. In this project, the existing methodology will be extended to a comprehensive multi-hazard risk assessment ...
Visualization of inspiratory effort and respiratory mechanics to promote lung- and diaphragm protective ventilation (VIREM trial) KU Leuven
The final goal of the VIREM project is to achieve a reduction of lung and diaphragm damage in ventilated patients in intensive care units worldwide. In this way we want to increase the patient's chance of survival and shorten the length of ventilation, thereby also reducing the cost of healthcare for intensive care. Collaboration with international partners will ensure that our results can be widely used.

Visualization, Modelling and Computation Based Process Intensification of CO2 capture Ghent University
This project focus on the understanding of gas-liquid mass transfer and the development of a gas-liquid vortex unit in the CO2 context. Fundamental experiments combined and numerical simulations can bring its design and efficiency to an unprecedented level. Therefore, advanced visualization technologies and novel numerical simulation methods will be used or developed to reveal and understand the mass transfer process between gas and liquid ...
Development of trace substances for in vivo visualization of heat shock protein 90 using positron emission tomography KU Leuven
Heat shock protein-90 (Hsp90) is a ubiquitous "chaperone" protein responsible for the (re)folding of "client" proteins that are thereby stabilized. In tumor cells, both the expression level of Hsp90 and its affinity for Hsp90 inhibitors is significantly increased. Recent research also suggests a role of Hsp90 in neurodegenerative disorders, since Hsp90 also folds and stabilizes client proteins in the brain.
