As part of the green, circular and digital transformation of the European manufacturing community, it is extremely important that data-driven digital manufacturing processes urgently incorporate innovative and active resiliency strategies at production and supply chain levels to maintain their sovereignty and competitiveness levels, respecting European digital values (excellence, privacy, trust) to improve individual and value chain ...
The high-tech industry is one of the most important pillars in the border region of Flanders-Netherlands. New (disruptive) technologies, fierce competition from emerging markets, ever-increasing consumer demands and the increasing scarcity of raw materials require a redesign of the production chain with more flexibility, diversity and quality.
The industry today has to comply with customization, with higher quality and shorter lead ...
Industrial processes in the EU released 351 Mtons CO2e in 2020, 8% less than in 2019. In many cases, continuous, high-temperature heat is needed for these processes, and no viable decarbonization solution exists today. Viable, short-term thermal energy storage (up-to 48-hours) would enable the replacement of fossil fuels by industrial waste-heat and renewable electricity.

The construction of railways in colonial Africa was a crucial step in the development of extractive economies initiated by competing European powers. Exploitation, however, is only one side of the story, as railway lines also created unexpected dynamics across colonial borders, triggering large-scale mobility of people, goods and ideas, and forever transforming the landscapes they traversed. This exhibition shows some of the results of the ...
The project will address the following key question: How can we provide fibre)like connectivity to moving objects (robots, humans) with the following characteristiscs: very high dedicated bitrate of 100 Gb/s per object, very low latency of <10 s very high reliability of 99.999% density more than one object per m2 and this at low power consumption? Achieving would be groundbreaking it requires a completely new high-risk aproach: applying ...
