Clinical Simulations in Teacher Education: A Theoretical and Empirical Study of the Impact on Competence Development and Readiness for the Job Ghent University
A major challenge for research on teacher education is to empirically investigate the effectiveness of instructional strategies. This PhD project will investigate clinical simulations. The research focuses on the effects of clinical simulations on competence development of student teachers and their readiness for the teaching job. The study
further wants to map how clinical simulations may close the ‘theory-practice’ gap.
Circulating histidine-containing dipeptides and the development of diabetic nephropathy: role of exercise and supplementation Ghent University
Both supplementation with the dipeptide carnosine and aerobic training have been shown, at least in rodents, to protect against the development of diabetic nephropathy. The goal of this project is to elucidate whether this exercise-induced protection can be attributed, at least partly, to elevated circulating histidine-containing dipeptides levels.
