Attentional bias and addiction: experimental research using the "Attentional Blink" paradigm Ghent University
Attention biases seem to play a role in addictive behaviour. Our goal is to examine these attentional biases using the Attentional Blink pradigm. We will focus on psychometric properties of the paradigm, the predictive value the task has for the clinical practice, and different components of attention that van be examined with this task.

A combined molecular dynamics – experimental investigation of oxidic slag structure and its properties Ghent University
Recycling and decarburizing current metallurgical processes is key for our planet’s future. For both recycling and decarburizing, electric furnaces will play an important role. To make this switch to electric furnaces, more fundamental understanding is an absolute prerequisite but still lacking. Specifically, more information on physical properties (e.g. electrical conductivity, viscosity, surface tension) of the slag phase, a mixture of ...
Development of a high-throughput experimental evolution platform for the optimization of Paenibacillus biocontrol strains KU Leuven
Due to the rapid spread of antimicrobial resistance and the environmental impact tied to the use of disinfectants in agriculture, there has been a growing interest in the development of novel antimicrobial strategies. Among these, the utilization of beneficial bacteria as biocontrol organisms (BCOs) has emerged as a promising alternative to conventional antimicrobial agents. This can be attributed to their minimal environmental impact and ...

Could You Repeat That, Please? Increasing The Quality And Replicability Of Physiological Virtual Reality Research Through A Comprehensive Experimental Framework Ghent University
Virtual reality (VR) experiments are increasingly employed because of their internal and external validity compared to real-world observation and laboratory experiments. Recently, the attention of human behavioural research in VR has focused on the use of psychophysiological signals, such as electroencephalography (EEG) or electrocardiography (ECG). However, the replicability of these research findings is hardly existent due to inconsistent ...
