‘There is no inclusion without exclusion’. Examining high quality and inclusion in early childhood education and care from the perspectives of policy makers, social work professionals and parents of young children. Ghent University
This research project examines the ways in which high quality can be realized in social work practices in early childhood education and care for (poor) families with children. A specific interest goes to the principle of progressive universalism. A multilevel analysis on macro-, meso- and microlevels, including the meaning-making of policy makers, social work professionals and parents, is used.
Generic materials study towards high quality advanced medical, food and engineering 3D structures Ghent University
The aim is to provide a fundamental understanding of extrusion based additive manufacturing and 3D casting of multicomponent materials toward high quality end products. Thanks to a generic research methodology, covering common challenges on rheology and solidification, the 3D product quality of a wide pallet of materials will be realised, including thermoplastic/thermoset polymers, self-compacting concrete, and fat-based food dispersions.

Ways of regeneration, reutilisation and study of new activated carbons for the production of high quality Cuba Rums: development of a new sound spectral technique to determine AC characteristics. Hasselt University
Exploring the Molecular Basis of the Microbial Wine Terroir: from vineyard soil to high quality wine KU Leuven
High quality SPECT imaging for human applications Ghent University
SPECT is a medical imaging technique that uses radioisotopes , injected in the patients body. Traditionally, mechanical collimators are used to block non-perpendicular gamma rays. A technique, known from astronomy, uses electronic collimation. In this project, a combination of both mechanical and electronic collimation is used to improve SPECT image quality.
Win-win protein: reconciling fish protein generation and water quality management. Ghent University
Garra and tambaqui are endemic fish to Ethiopia and the Amazon. We evaluated the performance, metabolic and functional effects of garra meal as feed on broiler chickens. We evaluated the effect of fish meat preservation methods on nutritive value of tambaqui fish and investigated the compatibility of beet pulp as nutrient on functional and metabolic effects of cultured tambaqui fish.
