SRP (Groeiers): Next-generation gene therapy by computational vector design and immune stealth nanotechnology Vrije Universiteit Brussel
Next-generation cancer therapy: gene editing meets nanotechnology KU Leuven
Cancer is one of the major causes of death in our society. The anti-cancer drugs currently used in chemotherapy produce several side effects and, although fatal for almost all cells in a tumor, a small percentage of cells appear to resist the treatment. Therefore, it is urgent to design new therapies that specifically target these cells while causing no harm to healthy tissue. The resistance to multiple drugs is linked to the presence of ...
Bottom-up manufacturing of stabilised shaped and stimuli-responsive lipid vesicles as scaffold for therapeutic artificial cell systems KU Leuven
Cells are key components in many therapeutic interventions. From more commonplace erythrocytes (which are used worldwide every day to save thousands of lives) to novel stem cell-based and genetically modified lymphocyte-based therapies (such as CART-T cells, which have provided revolutionary treatments for incurable cancers), cell-based therapies have a great impact on current medical practice. Reproducing the therapeutic effects of CAR-T ...
An empirical research about the societal aspects of environmental problems and new technological developments Ghent University
An empirical reseach about the societal aspects of environmental problems (e.g. global warming) and new technological developments (e.g. nanotechnology). Specific attention is paid to ecological and social determinants of ecological risk perceptions and sustainable actions. A multidisciplinary is developed wherein social-psychological, sociological and cultural anthropological perspectives of risk are integrated.
Micro/nanotechnology and medical diagnostics: Development of a multiplexed nano-bio-sensing system for in-parallel monitoring of multiple health biomarkers Ghent University
Multiplexed biosensing technologies can bring an important impact to the medical practice reflecting more accurately the health status and favouring a quicker, more accurate, and early detection of a disease by maximizing the amount of information that can be obtained.
The project aims to develop a new biosensing technology based on micro/nano-systems for performing reliably and efficiently monitoring of multiple key biological ...
