This project aims to reveal the main determinants of connectivity change in the world city network. This longitudinal analysis is based on a unique dataset that was put together in the context of the scientific cooperation between the 'Globalization and World City'-research group and the 'Chinese Academy of Sciences' for three different points in time: 2000, 2004 and 2008.

Datasets from Flanders and the United States of America will be compared to each other to study how technology leadership roles are related to positions in the schools' social network.
