Cognitive load in interpreting: similarities and differences between sign language interpreters and oral interpreters Ghent University
The requested project aims to explore the cognitive load of sign language interpreting and compare it with oral interpreting. The premise aims to establish whether sign language interpreters face a comparable cognitive load, despite the expectedly lower interference, and whether the cognitive load changes for sign language interpreters when they are retour interpreting.
Constituent Order in Serbian Sign Language Ghent University
This research project would be the first systematic investigation of a crucial aspect of the grammar of Serbian Sign Language (SZJ) – constituent order. It would be a contribution to the linguistic studies of SZJ and a contribution to the typological and cross-linguistic research of signed languages (since types of data will be elicited that have been elicited for other signed languages).

Social anchoring of Flemish Sign Language: Short training for deaf interpreters with experience KU Leuven
KU Leuven wants to set up a training course for deaf interpreters with experience. In addition, KU Leuven wants to pay attention to the recognition of these deaf interpreters and to strengthen their position in the labor market. The training is a 160-hour course. There are 3 semesters of which 1 semester is devoted to internship. The organization is working together with Doof Vlaanderen, Tenuto, BVGT and Visual Box for this project.
