Investigating the relationship between blood-based biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease, alterations in resting-state co-activation patterns and working memory deficits in a transgenic rat model. University of Antwerp
Beyond vision: the influence of auditory and contextual representations on visual working memory Ghent University
Until recently, it was assumed that information that is temporarily stored in working memory is represented in a visual or auditory format. Recent research has given rise to doubt such an interpretation, because abstract categorical, as well as other non-relevant objectproperties are stored as well. The current project will study how non-visual information plays a role in visual working memory.

Numerical cognition: contributions from fMRI research on attention and working memory Ghent University
Using fMRI we examine the relationships between parietal resources implicated in number processing and others involved in spatial attention and working memory. We focus on two lines of research: 1. how spatial attention and working memory provide support for number processing and 2. how neural resources that represent numerical order contribute to the processing of serial order in working memory.
The causal influence of emotional interference in working memory on depressive symptoms Ghent University
Cognitive problems are a central feature of depression. These problems might be related to impairments in the updating of affective information in working memory. This research aims to gain a better understanding of the role of these impairments, using a combination of crosssectional, prospective and experimental research designs.

The Influence of Teacher-Student Relationship and Interaction on Primary School Children’s Working Memory: A Multi-Method Approach KU Leuven
Working memory (WM), one of the core executive function (EF) components, is the ability to temporarily hold and manipulate verbal and visuospatial information. WM is considered integral to planning, decision-making, reasoning, and problem-solving, making it crucial for children’s academic achievement and social functioning. In primary education, when foundational skills in reading comprehension and arithmetic are developing, the role of WM on ...
Updating affective information in working memory: its nature, determinants, and consequences. KU Leuven
Whatever is on your mind clearly plays an important role in how you feel. Likewise, the processes that determine what is on or off your mind play a critical role in changing how you feel. Research demonstrates that affective updating ability, a cognitive process that is at least in part responsible for changing or modifying emotional thoughts, may play a key role in maintaining and changing how we feel. Indeed, it has been shown that ...
