Die Kinder der Canettis: Rhetorik der Kinderdarstellung in 'Die Stimmen von Marrakesch'

Boekbijdrage - Hoofdstuk

Elias Canettis travel account "Die Stimmen von Marrakesch" is often read and interpreted as a typical example of the literary imagination of "otherness". This article puts this interpretation to the test by analysing the rhetorical dimension in which children are represented in the text and comes to the conclusion that the local children are operationalised as narrative leverages, instead of being crystallizations of (postcolonial) alterity.
